![]() I suppose a Barbarian in plate mail could pull off the same as the Fighter, using Rage and Rage powers instead of feats to up the damage, rather than feats. They seem to be able to pull off greater damage than the Paladin though, due to being able to get more damaging feats. ![]() I've also read that if you don't focus on pumping AC and pump HP instead, they tank the best because the enemy thinks they are doing the right thing by attacking them, rather than ignoring a high-AC brick Lay on Hands helps by healing yourself after you're hit, and having a big sword helps you dish out punishment and therefore encourage enemies to want to take you down before you cause more damage.įighters can do pretty much all the same stuff, except they don't have a way to force aggro on them (like Paladins spells) and can't heal themselves. ![]() Paladins have some of the best ways to encourage enemies to target them (mainly through spells) rather than allies, making them the best at tanking. I keep going back to the Fighter or Paladin because of me wanting to play a Tank/Defender. I know they had a middle BAB and some spellcasting (though I don't recall if full or partial). What are they like? I recall reading about them a little, and I've heard them described as "Van Helsing as a class". I don't know much about the Inquisitor and can't get to the SRD right now. I'll have to take a look at the archetypes as well when I get a chance. Hellknight looks sort of promising/interesting, though not sure if it would be better than going with a straight base class. ![]() I didn't plan to play the Paladin as the "I throw my religion in your face" kind of LG Paladin, so if that's what you are picturing, I can understand why you would think it wasn't fitting. A Paladin could be either of what I described, in my opinion. ![]()
